I agree with both sides of the argument. Yes 911 looks suspicious, and, yes it is a waste of valuable time and breath to pursue it extreme lengths. Until there is new validated science in peer reviewed journals, then there is really nothing to debate. I mean it would be an insult to all of humanity, if all of the science periodicals in the world actually found traces of a conspiracy and decided to hide from it.
I agree that his response seems strange. I don\'t know what sanguine means. But I think he\'s avoiding the questions. His argument here is basically "we can\'t possibly know, it\'s too complicated" - but the claims of the 9/11 truth movement are fairly simple.
1) There was molten iron "like you were in a refinery" - according to news footage of some of the workers - and visible in the video coverage of the cleanup. Assuming that footage is not faked, then there is a fairly simple question here that needs to be answered, namely "where did that come from?" - jet fuel cannot melt iron, it\'s that simple, you have to have very high temperatures so where did they come from?
2) The buildings fell straight down, contrary to every conservation law known to physics. This is elementary stuff, not fancy Quantum mechanics - pile a bunch of beer cans on a bar table, knock them over and watch how they don\'t fall into a neat pile on the table.
So I\'m curious why he\'s avoiding this stuff. I\'d like to see some real answers. I can understand he doesn\'t want to "drop everything" as people have asked him to, but that\'s not what I\'m asking - I\'m just asking his opinion on 2 questions that can be answered by a high school physics teacher.
My guess is he\'ll be dismissive, as he is in this video, and it makes me wonder what he\'s avoiding. I don\'t think there\'s any dastardly motive, probably just that he doesn\'t want to deal with the nuts that will swarm him if he starts talking about this. Still, I\'d like to hear his answers.

I always respected Chomsky\'s word, but I really have to wonder about his sanguine approach to 911.
To say that enormous sections of the Left have distracted themselves with conspiracy theories about 911 on the basis of extremely thin evidence indicates that he has underestimated the size and scope of the 911 Truth Movement, and not looked at a lot of the evidence.
Moreover, there are very many people who are decidedly not of the left that are convinced that the official story of 911 was inadequate at best, completely fraudulent at worst.
For example, look at the following roll call of extremely eminent and on occasion very conservative, persons who beg to differ:
The following video demonstrates that there are not only a few mysteries, as Chomsky puts it, but many glaring mysteries. In fact the whole thing is an improbably mystery. If it hadn\'t actually happened, one would have had to have concluded that it was impossible:
For the science, look at http://911research.wtc7.net/
It is unlike Chomsky to implicity accept that the official version was true and that there was no conspiracy. For the first time in my life, the man disappoints me.
The only pause for thought in his comments is that in any case it doesn;t matter any more, and that too muych energy is expended on the question; we know the US administration is evil, in any case...Sorry but it is a crucial question to settle in my opinion.

This is an incredibly annoying site to post to.
The comment box into which one types doesn\'t reflect the final formatted post.
So ...I\'ll try again:
