After posting this optimistic report, we received disturbing news of a brutal government crackdown against the democratic movement in Morocco, with violent police attacks on demonstrators in fourteen cities during the monthly national mobilisation on May 22 and continuing all week. We urged readers to protest to nearest Moroccan Consulates. At this writing (June 12, 2011) we are pleased to report that the government's attempt to intimidate the movement failed, and that radical actions continue to develop throughout Morocco. ...
