After posting this optimistic report, we received disturbing news of a brutal government crackdown against the democratic movement in Morocco, with violent police attacks on demonstrators in fourteen cities during the monthly national mobilisation on May 22 and continuing all week. We urged readers to protest to nearest Moroccan Consulates. At this writing (June 12, 2011) we are pleased to report that the government's attempt to intimidate the movement failed, and that radical actions continue to develop throughout Morocco. ... I am still trying to make sense of the popular uprising in Afghanistan where following another US attack that killed four civilians—of course US/NATO claims without evidence that they were “insurgents”—an estimate of 1,500 people stormed a NATO base chanting death to America and the puppet president, violently clashing with police and leaving a dozen more Afghans dead....
