Citizens United v. FEC

With the Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission decision, the US Supreme Court just turned future US elections into super-duper mega-marketing extravaganzas that have little resemblance to democratic institutions by undoing all previous limits to corporate spending. Allowing limited liability corporations to use unlimited billions of dollars to support or dismiss candidates for office by saturating the media environment with propaganda is a huge, tragic step backwards for democracy and towards plutarchy. Powerful, near-sighted, interests with psychopathic tendencies, both foreign and domestic, just got a massive boost of political power. Within a generation we could have the best politicians Chinese, American, Russian, and Saudi businesses can buy. A constitutional amendment can repair the damage and provide democratic rights to human beings, not artificial legal entities defined as "people," in America. Join the campaign here and here.
