WALL STREET SOUTH - From September 1-6, poor and working people from across the world plan to march on the Wall Street of the South in Charlotte, North Carolina. The march includes over 60 organizations from across the country including organized labor, peace groups, students and youth, immigrants’ rights, Occupy groups, and others. On September 3, the Southern workers will hold the Southern Workers Assembly in Charlotte.

DRONES - Members of the Upstate Coalition to Ground Drones and End the Wars are currently fundraising to travel to Pakistan from September 21-28 with a group led by Medea Benjamin and Shahzad Akbar (of The Foundation For Fundamental Rights). The group plans to meet with victims of drone attacks and hear their stories, and to participate in a march and rally in opposition to U.S. drone strikes in Pakistan.

LABOR DAY - The 28th annual Bread and Roses Festival, a celebration of the ethnic diversity and labor history of Lawrence, MA, will be held September 3, in honor of the 1912 Bread and Roses Strike. It will be the culmination of a year of Strike Centennial commemorative events.

CUBA/WOMEN - The US Women & Cuba Collaboration delegation, “Global Economic Crisis: Women Working Together to Advance Economic Justice and Human Rights,” will be held September 1-11.

OCCUPY WALL STREET - September 17 is the one- year anniversary of the Occupy Wall Street movement. A “People’s Picket on Wall Street” action is being planned in New York City; other actions are planned nationwide.

FOOD/MONSANTO - The week of September 17 is a week of action against Monsanto’s control of the world’s food supply at the expense of food democracy. Events are planned worldwide.

PRIVACY - The British Columbia Information Summit 2012 will be held in Vancouver, September 19, under the theme, “This Time, It’s Personal: Freedom of Information and Privacy Under Government 2.0.”

NUCLEAR - Thousands of anti-nuclear activists across the U.S. will converge on Washington, DC, September 20-22, for a three-day Rally for a Nuclear-Free Future. The event is organized by the grassroots network Coalition Against Nukes.

CHICANO/LATINO - El Centro de la Raza will celebrate its 40th anniversary on September 29 in Seattle. The group organizes Chicano/Latino communities.
