Never Mind The Strings

I’m having an out of body experience. But not a mystical type of experience, it’s more like a puppet in motion that suddenly gains consciousness.

I wonder how our grandparents reacted when the hamster-wheel generated power plants were first erected.

Did they protest? Did they riot?

Or did cheers go up in the countryside for that day’s ideal?

“Run, sweat, we need power for the ferris wheels!”

Commenting on myself

By Black, Maxwell at Aug 21, 2008 21:10 PM

Some Context:

I manage a restaurant in Georgetown, Washington DC. The worst shift to work in any restaurant is brunch. I don\'t want to go into great details here, but lets just say working the brunch shift (especially after closing the night before) is the most degrading thing one can imagine here on the "shining city on the hill."

I wrote this having a smoke outside while murmuring to myself things like, "why so we spend all of our time doing things that we hate?" While usually this type of thought would just flow away with the ebb and flow of the daily emotional current, this moment had a guest star!

At the peak of my class resentment and yearning for another world, William Kristol walked out of my building of employment. He had a big smug smirk on his face!

I could do, or say, nothing. I hate this system!

Later that night I scribbled this on a napkin.
