Hello,

Blogs are a familiar feature on the internet - where users post content in an accumulating manner, with comments, and search options, etc. They facilitate expression and exploration, and via attached comments, also debate and synthesis.

Reading and
Navigating Blogs

Our blogs are quite powerful. Each writer can post, as is typically the case. Sustainers who have the option can also post, however. All Blogs appear in the blog system, and sometimes also in content boxes the top page of ZNet - and always via the left menu of the top page - and can be found via searches, etc.

Commenting on blogs follows the blogs, attached at the bottom, and blog comments, like all others, are also visible in many places that show comments including in the forum system. In addition, the entire blog system gathers content for everyone - but one can look at the accumulating content in many ways.

  • For example one can look at one writer's efforts - so one is seeing what is effectively a blog system for that one writer, or Sustainer.
  • One can also look at the content by topic, seeing blogs that are tagged as being about a certain topic - or place, as well. Thus, when doing that, it is a blog system about a topic, or a place, with many contributors.
  • One can look at only writer blogs, or only sustainer blogs, as well.
  • One can look at blogs for particular Groups, too.

All this is easily done using the left menu. Searches allow even more variables and refinements.

Creating Blog Posts

If you are a Sustainer with permission, and are logged in, you will see a link in the left menu for you to post a blog - and you can use that to post one, and then tag it various ways (such as with a topic or place, or a group tag), and once you do, it is in the system with you as the author.

You can also use the console button to the left to post a blog - anytime and from anywhere in the site, as long as you are logged in.

Meanwhile, enjoy the blogs - and, by the way, if you are a Free Member or a Sustainer with a ZSpace page, of course you can put one or more content boxes on it, pulling blog links of any sort you may want to filter for, for example, by you or by your friends or by others - and by topic, about places, for groups, etc.

Parecon-Sweden/PPS-Sweden

By Anders Sandstrom at Oct 10, 2010

Change Text Size a- | A+
I am happy to announce that Parecon-Sweden/PPS-Sweden was formally created on September 6th.
Our first priority is to create a new swedish Pareconwebsite. There is an existing swedish website but this site has not been updated since year 2000. The work with the new Pareconwebsite has started but has advanced slowly this far. We hope this will change with a better focus from now on.

Once a website is in place we will start the work with making the Pareconmodel more visible through talks, seminars at different meetings/forums and the printing and distribution of leaflets and activities to recruit members/supporters to Parecon-Sweden/PPS-Sweden.

Once we are up and running we will be very interested in any type of interaction with sisterorganizations in Europe (and other parts of the world for that matter). Maybe we can arrange a meeting of some sort to exchange experiences and information.

Bloody Mavellous!

By Evans, Mark at Oct 13, 2010 07:47 AM

Hi Anders -

Definately up for a European gathering at some point - where?  when? who?  etc..

Also can we consider how these developments fit in to the IOPS group?  How do we want to use that group?  Personally I would like to use it to build our fledgling National chapters.  What do ohter think?  How might we best do this?

Hi Mark,
I really appreciate your dedication for IOPS/PPS.

Even though Parecon-Sweden is only at the very start of the process of building a PPS/Parecon chapter we believe that planning an event such as an European gathering would be very useful in helping to plan also the general work and to motivate people and so on. Not to mention that it would be a lot of fun.

For us in Sweden the plan is to launch our website and to invite potential members to join during the fall of 2010. This will be our main focus for most of the rest of the year. It is, of course, difficult to foresee what the outcome of this will be in terms of members/supporters but at the moment I feel that a European meeting should take place no sooner that late spring of next year, as far as Sweden is concerned.

I think that there, quite soon, should be an inventory of which countries/groups that would be interested in participating in a gathering and where thay are situated geographically in order to decide where the best place for a meeting will be. Of course we also should start to think about exacly what we want to achieve with a meeting.

You guys are way ahead of us in the IOPS/PPS building process but these are my spontanious thoughts.

In case my e-mail would be useful to you, here it is: anders.sandstrom2(at)spray.se

Thanks Anders -

Given that PPS-UK has an established network of dedicated activists it might make sense for us to host the European gathering.  Ill put it on the agenda for our next National gathering in November to see what others think and get back to you.

Nordic co-operation?

By Jauhiainen, Antti at Oct 11, 2010 20:13 PM

Very happy to hear that things are progressing in Sweden. We've also founded Parecon Finland in the beginning of this month, and are about to unveil it's website. Strategic co-operation would have immense possibilities, as the two societies of Finland and Sweden have many similarities, and it would be easy to come up with different projects together. If your other commitments allow, please e-mail me - I don't have your personal e-mail address, but you can reach me at antti.jauhiainen (at) gmail.com

Also, we don't have anything in english (or swedish!) up yet, but for idead and/or inspiration you can check our website (work in progress) at www.parecon.fi

All the best to the efforts in Sweden!

I will pass on your name to the guy working with the site here in Sweden. Many thanks!
I think a european gathering in 2011 would be great. I believe it would be very motivating for people already working with parecon and also create a good opportunity to recruit new supporters.
