Hello,

Blogs are a familiar feature on the internet - where users post content in an accumulating manner, with comments, and search options, etc. They facilitate expression and exploration, and via attached comments, also debate and synthesis.

Reading and
Navigating Blogs

Our blogs are quite powerful. Each writer can post, as is typically the case. Sustainers who have the option can also post, however. All Blogs appear in the blog system, and sometimes also in content boxes the top page of ZNet - and always via the left menu of the top page - and can be found via searches, etc.

Commenting on blogs follows the blogs, attached at the bottom, and blog comments, like all others, are also visible in many places that show comments including in the forum system. In addition, the entire blog system gathers content for everyone - but one can look at the accumulating content in many ways.

  • For example one can look at one writer's efforts - so one is seeing what is effectively a blog system for that one writer, or Sustainer.
  • One can also look at the content by topic, seeing blogs that are tagged as being about a certain topic - or place, as well. Thus, when doing that, it is a blog system about a topic, or a place, with many contributors.
  • One can look at only writer blogs, or only sustainer blogs, as well.
  • One can look at blogs for particular Groups, too.

All this is easily done using the left menu. Searches allow even more variables and refinements.

Creating Blog Posts

If you are a Sustainer with permission, and are logged in, you will see a link in the left menu for you to post a blog - and you can use that to post one, and then tag it various ways (such as with a topic or place, or a group tag), and once you do, it is in the system with you as the author.

You can also use the console button to the left to post a blog - anytime and from anywhere in the site, as long as you are logged in.

Meanwhile, enjoy the blogs - and, by the way, if you are a Free Member or a Sustainer with a ZSpace page, of course you can put one or more content boxes on it, pulling blog links of any sort you may want to filter for, for example, by you or by your friends or by others - and by topic, about places, for groups, etc.

re economics structures..

By Kissenger, Clark at Jul 11, 2007 07:04 AM

anonymous, first register a name.. There are few reasons why socialist economies had difficulty surviving. The main one is that it is being strangled at birth, these economies aren't allowed to flourish.. Building walls and being vilainized is a good example to this..just pay attention to Cuba still under an embargo for the past 50 years. The former soviet union mainly crumbles becaUse of its participation into an arm race; the cost was unsustainable against a number of allied nations. Socialism is aim to the benefit of the people, its benefit should not be directed at expensive weapons .. capitalism is not a solution specially when it destroy our environment.. http://www.dissidentvoice.org/2007/07/the-richest-first-nation-in-canada/

Economic structures? All

By Tbarnich, Tb at Jul 10, 2007 22:44 PM

Economic structures? All you've done - or parecon has done - is rename worker's councils to collaboratives or whatever other euphemism of your choosing. May I remind you that the last of the most successful communal living and working relationships to ever exist - the very thing that you are trying to create - has ceased to be and recognized socialism for what it truly was, a dismal failure and a mistake. I of course am talking about the Kibbutz of Israel. As a much better writer than me once wrote, a Rose smells just as sweet by any other name. The same can be said for veiled attempt to promote a horrible economic policy, i.e., socialism. Parecon still stinks.

I noticed no problem with the mp3.

And Albert, like Chomsky, is a genius.

re: Incongruous

By Kissenger, Clark at Jul 08, 2007 19:13 PM

Dear Anonymous (not verified), (a) I don't live in Hyde Park, though I did for eight years. I still have a radio show there though. Don't think that Hyde Park is this monolithic hotbed of market zealotry; I know first-hand that there is a very vibrant left activist scene in the neighborhood and community. (b) I don't discuss communist/socialist economics at all, since the economic structures at issue are very different from those peddled in economies that have called themselves "communist" or "socialist". Sounds like someone came to class unprepared. A piece of advice: Learn a little something about what you're criticizing. Thanks. -- Mitchell

Truncated?

By Kissenger, Clark at Jul 08, 2007 19:03 PM

Cyrano, I just checked the MP3 file. It sounds fine and complete; I'm afraid I can't find a problem. If there was a problem with the download, you may want to try again. Or, conact me privately and I can send you a CD of the broadcast. Thanks. -- Mitchell

RE: radio inerview

By Kissenger, Clark at Jul 08, 2007 11:10 AM

Mitchell, yu should check the media mp3, it seem to be truncated at the end.. Its kind of cool listening to Albert's analysis on the various movement of the 60s, these ovement were in their infancy. I would be surprised that the next new religion will strive to be "green" because, we have to take care of our common home-earth and more to the left because capitalism has no soul. Participatory economics seem to be a very nice approach and and replcement to capitalism thus an improvement for people in general.. Also Albert sound just like he write and just like I suspected; he is not a overpowering person or imposing or authoritarian, there is no showing off whatsoever.. Its cool to see people susch as albert reflecting on a new society and rejecting causes of inequalities..

what ?

By Kissenger, Clark at Jul 08, 2007 10:14 AM

anonymous, what does your spouse got anything to do with it? Your post shows you didn't listen to Michael Albert on free market.. What free market are you alluding to? if the free market you allude to does not allow Mexican to sell their better products in the US, its not really a free market.. If your free market does not allow Iraq to sell oil to french and other european countries and this oil be traded in euro, its not really a free market.. If Iran is not allowed by the US to sell oil to China and Russia, its not really a free market.. thus your spouse is probably more free than your pseudo-free market..

cyrano - is there something

By Cclausen, Crcn at Jul 08, 2007 06:01 AM

cyrano - is there something wrong with you, e.g. drugs, alcohol, mental health issues? Your post makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. You wish you had a gun? Living alone but they will revolt? Benefits are kept away from the spouse? I'm not sure if your post is an internet "cry for help," but is certainly sounds like you need help. Please, for your safety and the safety of those around you, seek help.

It's incongruous that you

By Tbarnich, Tb at Jul 07, 2007 22:54 PM

It's incongruous that you live in Hyde Park and a) are against the free market (let's face facts, you're on Znet and Indymedia, there's no way in hell you're for A FREE MARKET) and b) attempt to discuss communist/socialist economics under the moniker "the ministry of truth." I'm sure nothing could be further from the truth then the failed and absurd economic policies you're trying to promote. But, you do appear to be into hockey so you can't be all that bad of a guy.
