Hello,

Blogs are a familiar feature on the internet - where users post content in an accumulating manner, with comments, and search options, etc. They facilitate expression and exploration, and via attached comments, also debate and synthesis.

Reading and
Navigating Blogs

Our blogs are quite powerful. Each writer can post, as is typically the case. Sustainers who have the option can also post, however. All Blogs appear in the blog system, and sometimes also in content boxes the top page of ZNet - and always via the left menu of the top page - and can be found via searches, etc.

Commenting on blogs follows the blogs, attached at the bottom, and blog comments, like all others, are also visible in many places that show comments including in the forum system. In addition, the entire blog system gathers content for everyone - but one can look at the accumulating content in many ways.

  • For example one can look at one writer's efforts - so one is seeing what is effectively a blog system for that one writer, or Sustainer.
  • One can also look at the content by topic, seeing blogs that are tagged as being about a certain topic - or place, as well. Thus, when doing that, it is a blog system about a topic, or a place, with many contributors.
  • One can look at only writer blogs, or only sustainer blogs, as well.
  • One can look at blogs for particular Groups, too.

All this is easily done using the left menu. Searches allow even more variables and refinements.

Creating Blog Posts

If you are a Sustainer with permission, and are logged in, you will see a link in the left menu for you to post a blog - and you can use that to post one, and then tag it various ways (such as with a topic or place, or a group tag), and once you do, it is in the system with you as the author.

You can also use the console button to the left to post a blog - anytime and from anywhere in the site, as long as you are logged in.

Meanwhile, enjoy the blogs - and, by the way, if you are a Free Member or a Sustainer with a ZSpace page, of course you can put one or more content boxes on it, pulling blog links of any sort you may want to filter for, for example, by you or by your friends or by others - and by topic, about places, for groups, etc.

Parecon talk in DAI, Tübingen, Germany

By G., Wolfgang at Nov 01, 2006 15:04 PM

Hi Michael,

as I'm just about to finally do my blog about your visit to the DAI in Tübingen, I (a) came to realize your blog is syndicated on LJ and (b) came to comment here, how much I liked the seminar we had, which was more than just a talk given by you - and more than just a chat between people who may or may not have found an ecological niche to exist in and around Tuebingen (I have, I guess).

Using simple techniques you helped us position ourselves (or the plans some have) in a Parecon society, and set in the context of each other's efforts a picture began to form which was at least to my liking - but which also helps to improve what we (want to) do, not to please you or get good grades from an academic teacher, but to get closer to what we want from what you suggest.

It was a pleasure meeting you -and in case you don't remember I'm the one who talked about Parecon in an information society and his shared virtual utopia, tentatively translated into english in the http://MyraPedia.eu

Greetings from Tübingen,

WGW alias IrasCignavojo

tour dates and venues

By Anarchobabe, Anarchobabe at Oct 17, 2006 10:10 AM

Hia,

thanks a lot for posting the tour dates and venues, did not know about further dates in Scotland but will add to the audio of talk from Edinburgh Bookfair and to Scotland Indymedia and UKIndymedia.

Have fun at the London Anarchist bookfair, greetings to the Wombles.

Unfortunately it is sometimes more talk than books but it's always nice to meet nearly everybody in the scene up there. Am still unsure if I can catch a cheap ticket down there, prices here are ridiculous.

Thanks that you came to visit us here in Britain, it's a pity we haven't paid closer attention to you coming beforehand, otherwise we could have tried to get you to some more places to speak.

Parecon Studies at Selkirk College in BC Canada

By Kissenger, Clark at Oct 11, 2006 14:32 PM

I'd like to make Parecon my project by laying the groundwork for it to be taught here in the Peace Studies program.  I'm a mature student (32) finally returning to school for an engineering degree.  I'm taking an optional experiential course called global leadership.  It's basically an opportunity to serve the community, and in so doing learn principles of a "leader as servant" ethic.  I'd basically just gather my parecon resources from my home computer, update them, and offer them to the program director with hardcopy of 'Realizing Hope' and 'Parecon: Life after Capitalism'.  In addition, I'd put together some presentations, based on your articles and other writings, and some ideas I have, mostly for grassroots organizing and structure.  I was wondering if there is anything in particular you'd like to add or have me include in this offering.

I'd like to add that I've been following parecon for about four years, and it's about half the reason I've decided to get a degree.  At the risk of sounding like too much of an ideologue, before I knew of Parecon, I knew no context or direction for contributing to the world in a positive and meaningful way, search though I might.  I'd like to have the resources and credibility to start building pareconish networks of pareconish workplaces wherever I can get enough people interested.  I realize that you are wildly busy, and will neither be offended nor deterred if you don't respond quickly or at all.  Your blessing on this little project would be nice, though.Thank you so much for your continued work and dedication.  PS Nice dream, I'll take it.

who are these people?

By Kissenger, Clark at Oct 09, 2006 07:05 AM

I don't mindlessly follow anybody. I don't agree with every word I read from every intellectual on this site. I make my decisions based on fact, and if I disagree, I keep my mouth shut unless I have a fact or valid point of view to counter with. these anonymous comments are the equivalent of elementary school taunts. say something valid, or at least leave your name. chickenshits.

I'll tell you now that I don't really fully understand the principles of parecon yet. can anyone tell me how an individual who wanted to run his/her own tattoo shop would be effected in the parecon system? where do independant contractors fit in?

Hey can I get a blog and post my resume on it.  I could also talk about how much I can bench and maybe how smart I am.  Then you all would form a cult around me too.

By Anonymous, Anonymous at Sep 27, 2006 18:50 PM

I have never seen a blog that is completely self promotion of a book tour. Some add it at the end but never do they simply post thier schedual as the only thing in the blog. What the hell are we supposed to comment on? How great he is? How we are going to tour around with the Albert book tour, pareheads? Yeah, we should make a cult around this guy!

Um, since the beginning, dude, particularly when the blogger's readership is engaged in related work and interested in the ideas of the blogger---who in this case has been doing some wonderful writing lately and should be exchanging those ideas not only virtually but in person as well. So now you know more about blogging! I myself regret not being able to arrange for Michael to pass through The Hague (city of diplomats, Shell Oil execs, and the people who clean and cook for them).
