solutions to the Global Order

By Thron, Mark at Jul 04, 2011 06:13 AM

Doesn’t this raise the alarm bell that the global system has to be drastically changed or should we say overthrown?   On the national level doesn’t all the evidence Prof. Chomsky presents points to a hegemonic capitalist system that has to be stopped in order for there to be any peace in this world or even for the planet to survive.   For whatever problem Prof. Chomsky analyzes the heart of a solution is not just a needed policy reform or a set of laws to right an injustice.  The only permanent solution seems to be a change of government, our own Arab spring.  We are close to our Independence Day, so a reading of the Declaration of Independence my benefit us in understanding that the people have a right to establish a new government when the current ‘government becomes destructive of the ends’ (our rights and liberties).   Just look at the financial reforms instituted from the time of the Great Depression which were in place until the 1970s.  The financial and banking institutions were still in the hands of private enterprise and they bided there time, setting down strategy, buying the political influence to overturn the regulations and establish an era of finance capitalism.   To achieve an economic solution to the dominance of finance capital, the banks themselves must be in the control of the public, part of the commons.   And our financial institutions, if allowed to remain, must be instruments of credit for business with the control credit being managed at the state and federal level of government.  This type of solution would stem from a government that has a cornerstone Bill of Economic Rights that guarantees the economic security of the citizens.
