The thrust is to try and develop leadership out of the group...you're organizing people to be self-sufficient rather than to be dependent upon the charismatic leader. This I have never been able to cope with. I have questions about the long-range effectiveness of big demonstrations...the most important thing was, and still is in my mind, is to develop people to the point that they don't need a strong, savior-type leader.
