Hello,

Blogs are a familiar feature on the internet - where users post content in an accumulating manner, with comments, and search options, etc. They facilitate expression and exploration, and via attached comments, also debate and synthesis.

Reading and
Navigating Blogs

Our blogs are quite powerful. Each writer can post, as is typically the case. Sustainers who have the option can also post, however. All Blogs appear in the blog system, and sometimes also in content boxes the top page of ZNet - and always via the left menu of the top page - and can be found via searches, etc.

Commenting on blogs follows the blogs, attached at the bottom, and blog comments, like all others, are also visible in many places that show comments including in the forum system. In addition, the entire blog system gathers content for everyone - but one can look at the accumulating content in many ways.

  • For example one can look at one writer's efforts - so one is seeing what is effectively a blog system for that one writer, or Sustainer.
  • One can also look at the content by topic, seeing blogs that are tagged as being about a certain topic - or place, as well. Thus, when doing that, it is a blog system about a topic, or a place, with many contributors.
  • One can look at only writer blogs, or only sustainer blogs, as well.
  • One can look at blogs for particular Groups, too.

All this is easily done using the left menu. Searches allow even more variables and refinements.

Creating Blog Posts

If you are a Sustainer with permission, and are logged in, you will see a link in the left menu for you to post a blog - and you can use that to post one, and then tag it various ways (such as with a topic or place, or a group tag), and once you do, it is in the system with you as the author.

You can also use the console button to the left to post a blog - anytime and from anywhere in the site, as long as you are logged in.

Meanwhile, enjoy the blogs - and, by the way, if you are a Free Member or a Sustainer with a ZSpace page, of course you can put one or more content boxes on it, pulling blog links of any sort you may want to filter for, for example, by you or by your friends or by others - and by topic, about places, for groups, etc.

Finally! The Israeli mainstream media acknowledge the humanitarian plight at Gaza. Two and a half whole minutes were dedicated to shots, from the Al Jazeera network, of dead children and grown men crying. "How could you possibly misconstrued that?" You ask. Leave it to a dedicated team of newspeakers.

The main focus of the anchorman was that what is shown on Al Jazeera, is "not what we, Westerners are used to". He keeps repeating "It's very graphic". And yes, it was very graphic. At first I didn't get it. There was a man with an unconscious girl in his hands and a bunch of little kids running around him. This girl's face was blurred out. So I naively ask my mom "why is she blurred and none of the other kids?" and mom told me that this girl is dead. As if in perfect timing, the anchorman adds "it wasn't blurred in the Al Jazeera broadcast, but we thought this may be a little graphic."

To put the cherry on top of this 2 minute and a half piece of "journalism", they showed a grieving father saying something along the lines of (not a direct quote and limited by my translation): "Four children gone, only this one [pointing off camera] is left. Only Allah is left."

Condescending, leading, separative... the Israeli mainstream media at its best.

Reporting in UK is almost as bad

By Andrews, John at Jan 06, 2009 04:44 AM

Tali

The reporting of the Gaza crisis in the UK is almost as bad.

Targeted killings, Palestinian Militants, Weapons in Mosques, Smuggling Tunnels (Smuggling Food and Medicines?) are just some of the useful euphemisms we are treated to.

Great blog but.......don't forget your own personal safety in this. All states can be brutal against internal dissent and I doubt that the state that you live in is any different. There may not just be reasonably sane people like You, Athanasios and me reading Z-Blog.

Please take care.

Best wishes

John Andrews

On the bright side John, your prime minister seems intent on a ceasefire, just like the majority of Europe. You're very kind to remind me of my situation. :) I'm hoping for the best and expecting the worst. I'm of the younger generation of libertarians, apart from a few high school students now paying the price ( http://december18th.org/ ), we are the only ones left with hope. Tali

Thank you

It is really heartening to know that there are young people who think as you do in Israel.

Difficult as it may be to remain objective and sane in the general fear-mongering environment some people have the courage to pursue just that. As all problems the Israeli-Palestinian

dispute and be solved. However, violence will not bring peace and peace without justice is not concievable.  This is certainly a truism which unfortunately we often tend to forget. Thank you for reporting from Israel.

Thank you, Athanasios for listening. :) I'm not connected (yet) to organizations and it seems the majority of Israelis are completely blind to what's going on. As it reflects from my immediate environment now, I'm completely alone. So thank you for the support.
