Help with Forums

What are Forums, what appears in them?

Forums are venues where people can post questions and comments as well as react to those others post, often in threads of discussion that go on for many rounds of exchange. A forum is a collection of all these sharing some commonality.

ZNet and recently ZCom have had forums for many years - often updated and altered in their logic and appearance, however. The most recent incarnation is quite different than those from the past. First, and perhaps most significantly, ZCom's forums now include all comments from the rest of the site, as well as posts placed directly in them. Thus, if a Sustainer or writer posts a comment on some essay, it will go into the forum associated with the essays author, topic, and/or place. Comments thus appear appended to what they address, as well as in relevant forums. This allows eacy searching in diverse ways.

ZCom's forum system, containing all comments from throughout the site, and all posts directly to any forum, is accessible to be read by any site user. Only Sustainers and writers can post contents, however.

There is one proviso, however. ZCom Forums are to be civil and mutually respectful. While disagreeing about ideas is of course fine, and to a considerable extent the point,  if you post in a manner that seriously disrespects other individuals using the forum your post may be removed. If this occurs repeatedly for any particular individuals, that indivdual may lose the option to post at all.

Who Gets to Post in Forums?

While all users can read content in ZCom's forums, only Sustainers and Z Writers can post in them. This ensures that content is not overwhelmed with dross produced by people who do not respect the system's logic and aims.

How do you Write and post in Forums?

One route to doing so is to simply post comments anywhere in the site, as these are automatically forwarded, as well, to their appropriate forum venues. Another way, however, is to visit the whole forum system, via the top tabbed menu, for example, and then post directly in some forum or other.
