Ali K. Saysel is a scholar in Bogazici University, Istanbul where he teaches classes on environmental sustainability and system dynamics. He is a long standing member of an avanguard culture and arts ensemble in Istanbul, which among performance art activites, hosts a progressive publishing house and a web portal (www.bgst.org).
Ali K. Saysel earned his B.S. on industrial engineering in 1990 and a Ph.D. on environmental sciences in 1999 from Bogazici University. In late 1980s, in the relatively unwinding post-military coup environment in Istanbul, he met with unorthodox left thought and libertarian values. In 1990's, he has been active in the creation of the policultural musical project "Kardes Turkuler - Songs of Fraternity" and worked as an active member of the newly formed libertarian left wing political party, "Ozgurluk ve Dayanisma - Freedom and Solidarity". Between 2000 and 2004, during his visit in abroad in Portugal and Norway for teaching and research, he contributed Turkish translations to the newly formed multilanguage Znet in Turkish/Kurdish and to a progressive Kurdish publishing house, Aram in Istanbul.
Since 2005 in the BGST collective, he is active in publishing and disseminating the works of the authors such as Noam Chomsky, Michael Albert, Vandana Shiva and alike and contributes his own articles, mostly on environmental issues to web pages and magazines. His fields of interest are, among other themes, ecology, education and the middle-east politics.
