Hmmm....Raised in white, upper-class suburb of NYC. Discovered peace studies as an undergraduate at Colgate University. Got grad degrees in sociology (and discovered feminism and Marxism and anti-racism, in that order) and continued to find joy in peace and justice activism. Started teaching at a small, very humane peace-and-justice-oriented liberal arts college in 1996. Got married and had kids. Had it all for a few years. Lost my 8-year-old daughter to cancer in 2007. Went inward for a while, asking lots of questions about what life means, what death means, why we are here. Still recovering, but just as committed to making a difference in the world and to nurturing college students to do the same.
