the world & snow
[ After A. A. Marcoff ]
I heard
the chimes of a church bell
& drifted
into prayer:
& this is what I adored:
the feeling
of trudging
through
the snow
each pine needle
the caress of evening
as if the snowflakes
held
the image
of God
descending into the world:
snow flurries & vision & branches
lay
ahead
&
a simple moonlight
danced
in the serenity
of the forest:
time flowed
&
the flakes
of snow
fell
into
the tranquility
of the evening:
& and then I adored
God
as
though
my eyes
were
glistening
glistening
glistening
with
some
deep
mystery
of
stars
