Born in l941 in Sweden, Swedish citizen and resident, but working at Cambridge University UK. Sociologist. Almost fifty years of leftwing intellectual and political activity, as a socialist and anti-imperialist. Currently I am most involved in issues of inequality, globally, nationally, locally. The vision of l9th and 20th century socialism is no longer clear. While we all know what we are against, there is an urgent need for a new positive horizon. I hope Reimagining Society will make a major contribution to it. Alas, it seems that time will not allow me to write an opening essay. less
