73, live and was born in the USA, and received my Ph.D. in economics, with an African speciality from Boston University.  I have spent my career as an economist, educator, advocate, innovator, and writer. In addition to participating in a wide range of anti-imperialist activities from the 1960s onward, I was most active in working for the liberation of Southern Africa. However, most of my political work was through my employment; as a university professor, an adviser to the Tanzanian governemt, work in the non-profit world, and as a consultant. All of my work as an economist has focused on developing creating solutions for problems effecting the poor in the Global South. I founded and directed the Economic Development Bureau, a non-profit, socialist, economic and financial consulting organization for Third World countries. The EDB worked in Nicaragua, Guinea-Bissau, Tanzania, Jamaica, and Cuba.  I was Executive Director of the Association on American Indian Affairs (the oldest advocacy organization for Native Americans in the US). I headed the non-profit that led the second boycott against Nestle, for its efforts to move poor women them away from breastfeeding toward baby formula. In recent years, my consulting has focused on developing a system of barter trade to assist poor countries to escape their disadvantaged position in world capitalist markets, and now on economic issues relating to global warming. less
