Mrs. Neamtan is President/Executive Director of the Chantier de l’économie sociale, a non-profit organisation administered by 32 representatives of various networks of social  economy enterprises (cooperatives and non-profits), local development organisations and social movements. The mission of the Chantier de l’économie sociale, a Quebec-wide organisation that emerged from the Quebec Summit on Economy and Employment in 1996, is the promotion and development of collective entrepreneurship. Since 1999 Ms. Neamtan has been Co-Director of ARUC-ÉS (Community University Research Alliance on the Social Economy. She was the founder and President of the Board of Directors of RISQ (Réseau d’investissement social du Québec), a 10$ million investment fund dedicated to the non-profit and cooperative sector. Since November 2006, she is President of the Fiducie du Chantier de l’économie sociale, a new 53$ million investment fund for collective enterprises. Prior to the creation of the Chantier, Ms. Neamtan was Executive Director of RESO (1989-1998), a community economic development corporation, devoted to the economic and social renewal of southwest Montreal. Ms Neamtan is actively involved in civil society organisations in Quebec. In 1996 she was named by the Quebec government as representative the community sector at the Commission des partenaires du marché de travail (Labour force partnership commission) and participated actively as member of the executive committee until 2008. She is a also a board member of CECI, an NGO involved in international cooperation and of CIRIEC Canada (Centre Interdisciplinaire de Recherche et d'Information sur les Entreprises Collectives) Ms Neamtan is the author or co-author of numerous articles, conferences and memoires on the subject of the social economy, solidarity financing and community economic development. less
