Currently doing his PhD in Political Science on the contemporary history of language politics in India, and was one of the PhD fellow at CSDS under its Institutional Fellowship Programme.He has been active for the past many years with a variety of socialinitiatives, in particular a student group based in Delhi named the Progressive Students' Union working on different issues ranging from commercialisation and privatisation of university education, to communalism with Delhi University Forum for Democracy, to workers’ rights within the University Community for Workers' Rights (a forum of Delhi University students, teachers, and employees).and is one of the initiators of a 'Marx club' started in 2005, a text-based discussion group in Delhi university. Since 2004 he has been actively involved with a process of forming an all-India platform of activists and intellectuals, for the time being called the New Socialist Initiative. This platform is based on a continuous engagement with left and democratic politics in the background of the demise of 20th century socialism, the rise of global empire of capital, and the deep contemporary political and theoretical challenge to left and peoples’movements, as a sustained effort to re-articulate a ‘new’ politics of the left. less
