I have a Third World perspective having been born there. I am well acquainted with lack of food, water, electricity, medicines and any other item you may care to mention. I abhor war - I lived through a civil war as a child. I am exquisitely sensitive to the issue of Constitutional freedoms having been raised in a very repressive system. I am acutely aware that the U.S. is an empire and definitely not benign because my birth country owed its poverty and repression to U.S. interference and still does. Like many others whose life becomes very hard in their own country, I emigrated as a 13 year old to the U.S. and eventually became a citizen. For a long time, I believed the history taught in public schools and the reports of the mainstream media. I was too busy studying and working to pay my university studies to think much about history and analyze current events carefully. Then came graduate school and post-doctoral studies in a medical research area. Some years ago, I left science. I am now an organic gardener and work as a volunteer year round removing invasive plants from New England forests. All of this I do accompanied by a very smart, good-natured white shepherd named Jean Howlow in tribute to Jean Harlow. Recently, I found out that I have Asperger's syndrome, a type of mild autism jokingly called by some "computer programmer syndrome". Aspies have a common trait of being intelligent, logical and baffled by NT (neuro-typical) behavior.
