Hi dear All,
This is Yener from Kayseri, a city in middle-Anatolia/Turkey, also known for its rather parsimonious and trade-oriented people.
Currently, I am living in Istanbul (the European capital of culture for 2010) where I am working as a TA for the course "history of revolution and emergence of modern Turkey" at a university.
So far I have earned a BA in international relations and a MA in Middle East Studies (thesis on the second Palestinian Intifada and Palestinian Identity).
I had an unsuccessful attempt at a Ph.D study in Leipzig/Germany on the situation of Israeli Palestinians.
Happily in Fall 2009 I could restart my studies here in Istanbul.
Being a part-time activist is really nothing much in Turkey that is inundated with a myriad of daily and structural problems, from obstacles before freedom of speech, an ailing economy with an increasing rate of unemployment to Kurdish Question, education system and so on. But that is I am, a part-time activist for the time being.
I have been reading ZNET since 2002, and i have learned a lot about the People all over the world, their situation, history and struggle in other countries; their similarities and differences. I am grateful to ZNET and all the writers, researchers, academicians, journalists, intellectuals, students for this.
